Want to spend less of your RV vacation cooking in the kitchen? Use the following tips to help make meal preparation in your RV even easier and faster!
Use a Slow Cooker
A great tip for cooking on the road is to use a slow cooker. You can prepare some delicious and fresh meals like roasts, chili, pasta, stews, and soups. These devices take up little counter space and cleaning will be a breeze since it’s just one pot! You can toss your ingredients in when you start your day, and when you return to camp in the evening, your dinner will be ready to serve. We definitely recommend investing in a slow cooker if you don’t already have one.
Batch Cooking
Another useful travel tip is batch cooking. Batch cooking is when you make large batches of a single ingredient that can be repurposed into several different dishes.
For example, grill chicken breasts one night and use the leftovers for a soup. What about a quesadilla? How about a sandwich?
You can repurpose your food to last you multiple meals without getting tired of eating the same exact dish. Plus, you’ll save water and power since you’re preparing several servings at once.
Prepare Cold Meals
One great strategy to avoid having to turn on the stove or oven is to fix meals that don’t need to be heated up, or meals that only require the use of a microwave. Use leftover meats from the grill to fix sandwiches or add them to a tossed salad or a pasta salad. Create granola and fresh fruit parfaits with yogurt for breakfast. Fix a platter of nachos and slide it into the microwave to melt the cheese. The possibilities are endless!
